A Florida couple’s missing-dildo dispute is leaving the criminal docket. The relationship, apparently, is staying.

Sheila Rae Pavelec, 66, and Stanley Foster Spink, 71, will not be prosecuted following their June arrests over an argument that turned physical, Villages-News.com reports. They had become engaged in May. By June, there was a competing claim to investigate.

According to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrest report cited by the outlet, Pavelec accused Spink of stealing her dildo. He grabbed her forearm, and she slapped him before leaving his Fruitland Park home.

Spink called 911. Deputies later arrested Pavelec, who showed them an abrasion she said came from his grip. Both ended up in jail on felony charges.

By September, the couple wanted to reconnect. A judge granted their request to change their bond conditions to allow contact.

Prosecutors have now declined to pursue the cases, citing either an unlikely conviction or an inappropriate use of resources despite legally sufficient evidence. The announcement did not specify which rationale applied.

The relationship got a second chance. The dildo’s whereabouts did not get an update.
