Bridgerton fans just got news of two shows, and zero release dates to go with them. Season five of the Netflix series is in production and will hit screens sometime in 2027, according to Business Insider. A newly announced spinoff about Violet and Viscount Edmund Bridgerton has no premiere date at all.
Season five follows Francesca Bridgerton Kilmartin, who, two years after her husband died, tries to sort out her feelings for his cousin, Michaela Stirling. Business Insider notes that it is the first queer love story to be the focus of a season of the show, as Netflix first announced in March 2026.
The spinoff will go back in time to the love story of Violet and Edmund Bridgerton, the parents of the Bridgerton brood, much like Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story did for Queen Charlotte and King George, according to Business Insider. Netflix announced it on Thursday.
Quinn's website says the original Bridgerton series is eight novels set between 1813 and 1827, one for each of the eight Bridgerton children. After the series ended, readers kept asking what happened to the family later in life, so she wrote what she calls "2nd Epilogues." They were later collected in The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After, alongside a bonus novella about Violet titled "Violet in Bloom."
Season five is expected in 2027.
